The Lord promises to protect His fully surrendered devotees who worship Him unconditionally with exclusive loving devotion. He grants His eternal grace and merciful loving protection to His cherished pure-hearted devotees. He provides them with all essential necessities to maintain a comfortable earthly existence. He takes care of all their needs and requirements and provides them with whatever they lack in this world. He generously blesses them with all that they deserve even without asking. He preserves all that they possess and have already acquired through their efforts. He preserves, provides, protects and nurtures. He enhances the rewards of their meritorious deeds and mitigates the suffering and adverse effects generated by the painful reactions of their past karma. He protects them from all harm, all adversities, afflictions and evil energies that pose a threat to their welfare and spiritual progress. He bestows auspicious outcomes and just rewards and neutralises the obstacles that arise in their lives. The only qualification required to attain His supreme benevolent grace is exclusive unwavering loving devotion and unconditional complete surrender...relinquishing the responsibility of protecting and maintaining one's life, one's body and one's family to Him, with unflinching profound faith that He will never forsake His pure-hearted nishkam ananya devotee who loves Him exclusively and desires His eternal association above all else. One must strive to cultivate this exclusive surrender and develop a direct devotional relationship with the Lord, seeking Him as the ultimate goal of one's life. Such a blessed devotee sees himself as non different from the Lord and lives his life incessantly contemplating the name, form, glorious qualities, divine pastimes and transcendental spiritual potencies of the Lord and the Lord reciprocates his love in equal measure.

THE UNCHANGING SELF

 The root cause of all suffering is Avidya or ignorance of our real nature. It forms the foundation of the chain of cause and effect that results in bondage. Avidya leads to Aviveka or absence of discernment between the real and the unreal, the Self and the non self. Aviveka leads to ahamkara or ego consciousness, induced by false identification with the body-mind complex, which is erroneously perceived to be the real Self due to the absence of true knowledge of the eternal authentic Self. The reduction of desires is the route to happiness. Desire is the root cause of all suffering. It is only in the ephemeral moments of desirelessness that ensue after the fulfilment of a desire, that we truly experience contentment, serenity and bliss. When we pray to God, we should ask to be blessed with the spiritual bliss of desirelessness. This spiritual bliss is the highest thing to be desired from God. One can also train one's mind to attain this blissful state of desirelessness through sadhana, by converting desires into preferences.
